Diane Dwire: We deserve honest, accountable government

“In 2014, my campaign received a contribution from COR Development. Yesterday, I learned that two executives from the organization were brought up on bribery charges. In light of this news, I will be donating the contribution to several local charities. The $500 that was contributed will be divided among the Heroin Epidemic Action League (HEAL) and Cayuga Centers in Cayuga County, the Young Women’s Community Association (YWCA) of Cortland County, American Legion Post 1540 in Onondaga County and the Chenango County Farm Bureau. These worthy causes will ensure the money is invested in bettering our community.

“We deserve a government that’s transparent and accountable, and I’ll fight to make that a reality. Corruption has absolutely no place in public service. We’ve had to put up with one scandal after the next for far too long – it’s time to end that.

“I will crack down on politicians who abuse their office for their own gain, because the only voice that should matter in Albany is ours, not the special interests who pay to play. I’ll lead by example and donate my pension to charity while in office. Above all, I’ll work to put the needs of our community first.”
